An italian experience company

Treviso, Italia

Who are we?

Massimiliano Fedato, a native Italian, is a culinary expert who moved to Canada in 2015. There, he worked as a production manager in the food production industry after completing his Masters of Business Administration and culinary studies in Italy. During his time in Canada, Massimiliano played a vital role in establishing Italia Alimentari's inaugural production plant, necessitating proficiency in English. Eventually, he returned to Italy, revamping his father's pizzeria by merging his love for high-quality food with the authenticity of his homeland.

Emily Bhattacharya, a Canadian native, works in software, supporting clients in EMEA and the UK for a dynamic tech company. While she excels in her professional role, Emily also harbors entrepreneurial aspirations, always having one (or two) projects in the pipeline. Married to Massimiliano since September 2021, the couple has united their strengths to realize their vision of becoming pioneers for authentic Italian experiences in Veneto. When not working or savoring pizza, Emily enjoys long walks with their English bulldog, Remy, who has embraced the Canadian-Italian lifestyle. Together, Emily and Massimiliano are raising their son, William Jason.

The Why

Shortly after trying life on Massimilano’s side of the world I started to notice the consistent emphasis on the importance and support of a well balanced lifestyle. Simple practices such as signs in the grocery store as to how to shop -  what to eat based on what is produced each season, locally.  Limited produce due to laws and regulations to limit imported products and ban those that have synthetic or unnatural, potentially harmful ingredients.

I quickly fell  in love with how rich yet simple life could be.  With far less than our Canadian dream, we were flourishing.  Not only did I feel better than I had in years, I had slowed down and yes, I smelt the flowers … that bloom almost year round!

I learnt so much about Italian culture exceeding the importance of pizza, pasta and gelato but dove into the trades and practices of this culture that are slowly dying.

The North (Veneto) where we live hasn't quite been kissed by the tourism. At l'uccellino giallo we want to share a little bit of our home.  We want every guest to arrive as a tourist but experience their time here as a local.

Perhaps you are swinging by Veneto because you had a wedding in Tuscany, you wanted to see the Dolomites or maybe it was on your bucket list to stroll through the infamous streets of Venice after salivating over cicchetti. Whatever the reason, we want to prepare experiences for those who want to see the real Veneto, no two experiences being the same.

The end goal?  For everyone to take back with them a part of the lifestyle to adopt wherever home may be.  Perhaps it's shopping locally more frequently, taking a rest in the middle of the day, putting away the technology and spending a full day hiking, picnicking and exploring.

Like the food, the traditions and activities change each season.  Our promise to you is to always plan our experiences with what is available and true to the authenticity of the land.

Yours truly,

Emily
